Wisconsin Point field trip wraps up the River Talk season
The River Talk series wraps up for the season with a field trip on Wisconsin Point at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 12. Thomas Howes, natural resources manager for the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, will lead the outing entitled, “Ojibwe connection to Wisconsin Point: Past, present and future.”
St. Louis River tourism and new water trail talk
The next River Talk will take place via Zoom at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 14. “Discovering the magic of the estuary: Bringing tourists to the St. Louis River,” will feature Nikky Farmakes, director of marketing and social media for the Superior-Douglas County Chamber of Commerce and Travel Superior, and Kris Eilers, executive director of the St. Louis River Alliance.
A River of Poems
The next River Talk will take place via Zoom at 7 p.m. (Central Time) Wednesday, March 3. During “A River of Poems,” a dozen poets from around the world and across the country will read their powerful, provocative and beautiful poems about rivers – the St. Louis River or others.
Explore the St. Louis River exhibits and animals at the Great Lakes Aquarium
The next River Talk will take place via Zoom at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10. Alexis Berke with the Great Lakes Aquarium will present, “A virtual visit: Explore the St. Louis River exhibits and animals at the Great Lakes Aquarium.”
Should I Stay or Should I Go? The Clash of Wetlands With Lake Levels, Invasives and Humans
The River Talk series is partnering with Café Scientifique Twin Ports with a virtual talk at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, via Zoom. Dustin Haines, research coordinator with the Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve, will speak.
