Funding from the National Sea Grant Office and NOAA’s Disaster Preparedness Program will allow Wisconsin Sea Grant to strengthen communities’ resilience to flooding by looking at who lives in the most flood-prone areas of a city.
Wisconsin is home to five teacher mentor/mentee pairs who have a passion for the Great Lakes. They are sharing their expertise in a program that benefits the educators and their students that’s organized by the Center for Great Lakes Literacy.
Speaker Jackson Parr will discuss the Flood Resilience Scorecard and how it helps Wisconsin communities prepare for flooding events and their aftermaths.
Jackson Parr will work with approximately 30 communities to help them assess their resilience to flooding hazards and take steps to safeguard their residents.
