Sheboygan Forum: For the Sake of Lake Michigan

On Wednesday, April 13, UW Sea Grant will partner with the Lake Michigan Forum to host a free public seminar to discuss a plan to clean up the Sheboygan headwaters of Lake Michigan.

High schoolers compete in Lake Sturgeon Bowl

Teams of marine-science-minded teens competed in Milwaukee on Feb. 5. Marshfield High School again captured a victory in the Lake Sturgeon Bowl. The team now moves to a spring National Ocean Sciences Bowl battle in Galveston, Texas, hoping to win their third crown. Last year, the team’s prize was a trip on a sea-going schooner. Students and teachers across Wisconsin are eligible to participate in this annual science-literacy competition.

Story Hours Engage Children in Water Issues

Wisconsin Water Librarian Anne Moser has made it her outreach mission to improve literacy and library use among underserved children as part of the “Make a Splash—Read” campaign. This week, she brought her story hour road show to the Neenk Chungra Head Start Program in the Wisconsin Dells.
