Jake Wears, a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, was recently hired by Sea Grant.
Wears is a major in Communications Arts, focusing on Radio-Television-Film. He concentrates on filming and editing both independent projects and videos for organizations. Investing in his own semi-professional video equipment, Wears said, “I really enjoy working with people to create videos, whether they are educational, commercial, or just simple entertainment.”
He will be shooting video, then editing and archiving video to display at seagrant.wisc.edu/videos.
He is also improving accessibility to existing videos by closed captioning them. “Living in the Fox Valley, I would often hear about pollution and how unsafe the Fox River was. It’s nice to work somewhere that supports research and education about maintaining natural resources like the Fox River. I’m also doing work relevant to my chosen field, so I’m pleased with the opportunity,” Wears said
