Next River Talk Focuses on Ecological Mysteries

The next River Talk is scheduled for Nov. 26 at 7 p.m. at the Red Mug (916 Hammond Ave, Superior, Wis.). Shon Schooler with the Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve will present, “Ecological Mysteries in the St. Louis River Estuary: Tales of Missing Crayfish and Dissolved Oxygen.”

There will be no talk in December. The January talk about dredging issues will be held on Jan. 28, 2014, at the Clyde Iron Works Restaurant in Duluth, Minn.

Wisconsin Sea Grant and the Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve (NERR) have teamed up to offer this series of science café-type evening talks about the St. Louis River Estuary. These informal “River Talks” began in September and are held on the last Tuesday of the month through spring. Grab a mug of coffee or maybe a glass of beer and join us!

Check the Lake Superior NERR website for details about other upcoming talks. If you miss a talk, visit the Wisconsin Sea Grant’s “Great Lakes Takes” blog for a summary of the discussion.
