Each February, high school students from around Wisconsin get together to compete in the Lake Sturgeon Bowl. It’s a contest to see which school knows the most about ocean sciences. The winner goes on to the National Ocean Bowl competition. And the winner of that event gets to go on a hands-on field trip to a marine research center in California, Hawaii, Panama, or another fascinating place.

In 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012, the winner of the National Ocean Sciences Bowl has been Marshfield High School, in Marshfield,Wis.
