Photo Contest for photographers 18 and under

We want to celebrate your outdoor photography and through it, encourage others to get outside, too. Your 2022 BioBlitz photograph(s) may be featured as a banner image next year in our BioBlitz projects. Ten winners will be chosen – one for each of the 9 local BioBlitz projects and a grand prize winner that will be featured on the umbrella project, the Great Lakes BioBlitz.

Contest Rules

1. Eligible photographers must be 18 years old or younger on the first day of the contest, April 22, 2022.
2. The photograph must be taken as part of the 2022 Great Lakes BioBlitz between April 22 and May 20, 2022.
3. A maximum of five entries per photographer.
4. By submitting a photo, you are giving us permission to use the image, or any modification of it in support of the the iNaturalist 2022 and/or 2023 Great Lakes BioBlitz. In addition, you are giving us permission to use the photo for other marketing purposes, such as on a Sea Grant website or on social media including the announcement of contest winners.
5. Please submit all photo entries in .jpg format and no larger than 1800×1200 pixels. The ideal dimensions for use as a banner image on iNaturalist are 760px by 320px.
6. Deadline to enter: Wednesday May 26, 2022. Winners will be notified by email no later than June 2, 2022.

How to Enter

1. Submit your high resolution image to akmoser@aqua.wisc.edu.  Please use the subject line: 2022 Great Lakes BioBlitz Photo Contest Entry.
2. In your email, please include photographer’s name and email. Additional information will be collected on our photo release form (#3).
3. Please read, complete and agree to our photo release form.
