Sea Grant projects are funded through the principal investigator's
designated department/center. All requisitions, appointments,
travel, etc., are to be initiated through this department/center.
In the expenditure of Sea Grant funds, the principal investigator
should follow the procedures prescribed by his/her department
or center. In addition, Sea Grant funds like any funds
administered through the university can only be expended
in accordance with the rules and regulations set forth by the
university and by the state of Wisconsin.
For accounting purposes, the principal investigator has designated
a department/center contact person who is responsible for keeping
accurate records of all expenditures and appointments on his/her
Sea Grant funds. The UW Sea Grant Institute will continue to monitor
the budget via a copy of the university accounting ledger sheets.
The Institute also posts monthly financial statements for UW-Madison
Sea Grant projects online as part of the UW
Aquatic Sciences Center Online Financial Management System.
