Swamp Sparrow — Song

The Swamp Sparrow’s song is a slow, even-pitched trill “weet-weet-weet-weet-weet” sometimes delivered on two pitches sung essentially at the same time. The song resembles the sound of a squeaky wagon wheel. Young birds learn the song by imitating adult males; peak learning times occur between 15-25 days of age and again between 225-300 days of age—that is, during the bird’s first spring.
