Snow Bunting — Description

Most commonly identified by their distinct white wings, Snow Buntings have been nicknamed “snowflakes,” and in flight, a flock of these small, highly social birds evokes a snow squall. As they fly across a field or frozen marsh, the birds twist and turn in unison, and appear to be “rolling” because birds in the back of the flock fly over the birds in front, creating a constant cycle.
