Ring-billed Gull Migration

Summer Range: Ring-billed Gulls breed from eastern British Columbia and northern California eastward to Newfoundland and New Brunswick, through the northern Great Plains and around the Great Lakes region. They arrive on breeding grounds from March into May; many if not most of these gulls return to breed at the colony where they hatched. Birds bound for the Great Lakes fly either up the Atlantic Coast to Chesapeake Bay and then westward to the Great Lakes, or up the Mississippi River flyway and then northeast into Lake Michigan.
