Osprey, Pandion haliaetus

Sometimes called the “fish hawk” because of its diet, the osprey is one of the largest birds of prey in North America. It is also one of the most widespread birds in the world, found on all continents except Antarctica-though it is relatively rare in the Great Lakes states due to a legacy of chemical contamination.
