Green Heron Water Connection, page 2

The Heron sometimes looks for food by raking the shallow bottom of a pond or stream with a backward drag of its foot, then examining the scraped area for prey.

The Green Heron also might perch on a branch or stump over the water, then dive headfirst after its prey, sometimes submerging completely.
