The most familiar and widespread goose in North America, the Canada Goose can be found in all kinds of water across the continent, from the tundra to the Gulf Coast. Biologists recognize a dozen or more subspecies of this bird, which vary in size, plumage, breeding range, migration routes and wintering locales. Some goose populations have become well established in urban areas, and are now coming into conflict with people.
