Belted Kingfisher — Description

The Belted Kingfisher is hard to miss. About the size of a pigeon, this bird has a big shaggy-crested head, long spear-shaped bill, short neck, stout body and short legs. Despite its distinctive appearance, the Belted Kingfisher is usually heard before it is seen, announcing its presence with a loud rattling cry.
