Marsh Wren — Water Connection

• Water—and the plants that commonly grow in water—provide the foundation of the Marsh Wren’s habitat. Wetland plants like cattails, sedges and reeds provide the bird with camouflage and nesting materials.

• While foraging, the Marsh Wren actively moves about on or near marsh floor, gleaning insects from wetland plant stems and leaves and from the surface of the water.
