Green Heron — Nest and Eggs
The Green Heron’s nest is a flimsy basket of sticks about a foot in diameter, usually placed in a small tree or shrub and located 10 to 20 feet high over or near water. The birds are fairly solitary, but occasionally nest in small, loose colonies. They typically lay a clutch of 3-5 eggs, pale blue-green in color, which are incubated 19-21 days. Chicks fledge at about 21 days.
