Green Heron ó Field ID

Size: 15"-22"

Wing span: 25"-27"

Weight: 9 ounces

Color: The Green Heron has a greenish crown, chestnut brown face and neck, gray-white belly, and a blue-gray back and wings mixed with a hint of iridescent green. The birdís legs are yellow-green in color, though breeding malesí legs turn bright orange. The long pointed bill is dark above and greenish below. The sexes look similar, but females are slightly smaller, duller and lighter. Immatures are striped brownish on the neck and chest, with a brownish back showing buff-colored spots.
