Aquatic Sciences Exploration: Onboard and Online

The “Aquatic Sciences Exploration: Onboard and Online” program provides immersion science learning to middle and high school students and teachers during authentic research cruises on Lake Michigan. Distance learning communication technologies such as wireless shipboard-based interactive videoconferencing will allow participants to share and distribute their findings with others. The program will provide the mechanism to test both the hands-on, hypothesis testing components (“onboard”) and the distance learning component (“online”) using pre-assessment, formative, and summative evaluations as components of the program material. The program promotes encourages the inclusion of under-represented students from the Milwaukee area.
