Editor's Note
From September 17, 1990 (update #4)
Since our last update (Aug. 8), zebra mussel veligers have been found in three water column samples from Superior harbor, and settled zebra mussels were found on three substrate samplers from the harbor. However, no veligers were found in any of the 39 other water column samples from Wisconsin harbors along Lakes Michigan and Superior, no settled mussels were found on the 55 other substrate samples from both lakes, and no veligers were detected in any of 52 samples from Wisconsin Great Lakes municipal and industrial water intakes.

The Zebra Mussel Update was a 4- to 8-page quarterly national newsletter published by the University of Wisconsin Sea Grant Institute from May 1990 through May 1997. The ZMU documented the spread of the zebra mussel -- an exotic nuisance mussel -- through North America's freshwater environments, especially the Great Lakes, and on efforts to control it.
