* A symposium on zebra mussels will be held on June 5 at the 1991 annual meeting of the International Association for Great Lakes Research in Buffalo, N.Y. * "Zebra Mussels in the Inland Waterways: What You Should Know" is the title of a two-day conference June 11-12 in Fort Mitchell, Ky., sponsored by the Ohio River Basin Commission and the Upper Mississippi River Basin Association. Contact: Ohio River Basin Commission, phone (606) 257-5141.

* The second annual International Zebra Mussel Research Conference has been set for Nov. 19-22 in Rochester, N.Y. New York Sea Grant will host the meeting, sponsored by the Great Lakes Sea Grant Network. A call for papers will be issued shortly.

* "The Zebra Mussel Invasion: Coming Soon to a Water Intake Near You" is the theme of the 1991 American Water Works Association annual conference and exhibition June 23 in Philadelphia, Pa. Contact: AWWA Meetings Department, phone (303) 794-7711.

The Zebra Mussel Update was a 4- to 8-page quarterly national newsletter published by the University of Wisconsin Sea Grant Institute from May 1990 through May 1997. The ZMU documented the spread of the zebra mussel -- an exotic nuisance mussel -- through North America's freshwater environments, especially the Great Lakes, and on efforts to control it.
