Outside Feedline Okayed

From July 26, 1991 (update #9)

GREEN BAY -- The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources in mid-July approved two alternative plans for a anti-mollusk chemical feed line for the City of Green Bay's Lake Michigan water intake near Kewaunee, according to Green Bay Water Utility General Manager Bill Nabak. One design is for a feed line to be installed inside the water intake; the alternative is for a feed line outside the water intake pipeline. Nabak noted that estimated costs for the outside line are $50,000 greater than the inside design.

The Zebra Mussel Update was a 4- to 8-page quarterly national newsletter published by the University of Wisconsin Sea Grant Institute from May 1990 through May 1997. The ZMU documented the spread of the zebra mussel -- an exotic nuisance mussel -- through North America's freshwater environments, especially the Great Lakes, and on efforts to control it.
