Upcoming Meeting

From September 10, 1991 (update #10)

"Biological Pollution: The Control and Impact of Invasive Exotic Species" is the title of a Oct. 25-26 conference in Indianapolis sponsored by the Indiana Academy of Science. Besides the obligatory talk on zebra mussels, presentations will cover a wide range of perspectives on other nonindigenous species from the plant and animal kingdoms, including dogwood anthracnose disease, Asian tiger mosquitoes, exotic earthworms and domestic cats. The registration fee of $60 (payable to Indiana Academy of Science) should be sent to Bill McKnight, Indiana State Museum, 202 N. Alabama, Indianapolis, IN 46204.

ID: 19910910-12.

The Zebra Mussel Update was a 4- to 8-page quarterly national newsletter published by the University of Wisconsin Sea Grant Institute from May 1990 through May 1997. The ZMU documented the spread of the zebra mussel -- an exotic nuisance mussel -- through North America's freshwater environments, especially the Great Lakes, and on efforts to control it.
