Gopher Access

From March 7, 1994 (update #20)

For travellers on the information highway via a Gopher server (commonly available to campus Internet users), Zebra Mussel Update is now accessible electronically via your computer modem.

From my office at the UW-Green Bay campus ZMU is accessible through the following path: "Other Gopher and Information Servers," "USA," "Wisconsin," "University of Wisconsin-Madison," "News Releases, Newsletters and Newspapers," "Special Interest Publications," "Sea Grant Institute Publications," and "Zebra Mussel Updates."

Believe me, it's easier than it sounds.

The Zebra Mussel Update was a 4- to 8-page quarterly national newsletter published by the University of Wisconsin Sea Grant Institute from May 1990 through May 1997. The ZMU documented the spread of the zebra mussel -- an exotic nuisance mussel -- through North America's freshwater environments, especially the Great Lakes, and on efforts to control it.
