Zebra Mussel Cards Still Available

"Zebra Mussel Watch" identification cards are available from your respective Sea Grant Communications Offices. For customized versions, contact Linda Campbell at UW Sea Grant, (608) 263-3259. Since 1990, UW Sea Grant has printed more than 1.1 million Zebra Mussel Watch cards on behalf of about 30 Sea Grant programs, state and federal agencies, and businesses in 19 states.

The Zebra Mussel Update was a 4- to 8-page quarterly national newsletter published by the University of Wisconsin Sea Grant Institute from May 1990 through May 1997. The ZMU documented the spread of the zebra mussel -- an exotic nuisance mussel -- through North America's freshwater environments, especially the Great Lakes, and on efforts to control it.
