Association Drops Suit
From October, 1995 (Update #25)
A group of property owners trying to close the public boat access at Sand Lake to prevent the spread of zebra mussels into this Michigan lake has dropped its lawsuit, according to an early September article in the Jackson Citizen Patriot. The association wanted the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to close the state boat launch and begin a program to keep mussels out of Sand Lake.

The Zebra Mussel Update was a 4- to 8-page quarterly national newsletter published by the University of Wisconsin Sea Grant Institute from May 1990 through May 1997. The ZMU documented the spread of the zebra mussel -- an exotic nuisance mussel -- through North America's freshwater environments, especially the Great Lakes, and on efforts to control it.
