Pacific Coast Workshop Scheduled

The West Coast Zebra Mussel Information and Monitoring Workshop which will focus on risk assessment and prevention of zebra mussel infestations in western North America, will be held March 10-11 at Portland State University, Portland, Ore. The workshop is sponsored by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, Sea Grant/USDA Nationwide Zebra Mussel Training Initiative and Portland State University. The Zebra Mussel Update was a 4- to 8-page quarterly national newsletter published by the University of Wisconsin Sea Grant Institute from May 1990 through May 1997. The ZMU documented the spread of the zebra mussel -- an exotic nuisance mussel -- through North America's freshwater environments, especially the Great Lakes, and on efforts to control it.
